I am so thankful that we have friends. I am not thankful that said friends have dogs…and kids. OK, that sounds harsh, but on Saturday our house was invaded by our very good friends from California who are in the process of moving to Beaufort. At the height of their visit and “hanging out”, there were 7 adults, 2 kids and 4 dogs in our 3 bed room apartment. It was madness and we had a blast, but at the ripe old age of 25 and 26, we really enjoy our quiet time of movie watching and knitting with Domino curled up on one of our laps sleeping. They were great guests and didn’t really inconvenience us any more than we’ve ever inconvenienced them…after all that’s what friends are for.
One of the dogs is a Doberman and while very well behaved, he’s a horse and thinks he is a lap dog. The other two dog was a puppy. Only the puppy isn’t house broken, we instituted poop patrol. They have spent the past week driving across the country and the kids had more than enough energy for a small army. I love dogs, I love kids, I love our friends, all of them in one apartment during an already busy week for us and at the end of a long journey for them is a little more than I can handle. Our friends are currently looking for a house because the nature of the military is that you move from one coast to the other and finding a place to live on little to no notice is not so fun. I will have pictures of the dogs and maybe the kids if their parents don’t mind. They really are super sweet, cute kids…but not when they’ve been trapped in a truck with two dogs and their parents for a week. I think they will be back at our house tonight, we’re having tacos for dinner and valium for dessert.
