I'm blue dabadee dabadie

Talk about being out of whack. I’m used to some seasonal depression (aren’t we all?) but it’s usually all wrapped up and gone by now, now I’m experiencing the lesser known* post Christmas slump. I had energy all through the holidays, I rang in New Years like I’ve never done before and then on January 3rd I promptly crashed into a lazy blob of do nothingness. So there would be my lack of posting, I haven’t talked to much of anyone, not even my good friend that I work with! I am slowly pulling myself out of it and have some super cute and soft knitting to show for it. Nothing like some knitting and the entire box set of Friends to nurse yourself through a slump.

I’ve tried to swear off acrylic yarns for my knitting, but there’s this stuff…it’s like crack it’s so soft and so luscious and so bright! I have two skeins of a bright pink and one lime green that I’m knitting into a cute striped scarf, then I’m going to attempt a scarf and hat combo with something a little more subdued. So I don’t guess I’m swearing off the acrylics anytime soon, but I am swearing off that silly eyelash yarn stuff.

What? It’s well into winter you say and I should have done my scarf and hat combos to keep me warm up until now? Well, truth be told it’s just now starting to get cold** and I have a bigger plan for my hand knits. The plan is that my hand knits will protect me on my first ever skiing / snowboarding expedition! I’m not a dumb woman, I know that my skills and natural grace (ahem) will not do diddly squat to protect me from the multiple bruises and muscle soreness (and lets face it, a possible broken bone) that is going to happen. I also don’t have misguided trust in my hand knits, although I am certain that something knit by The Harlot, Staci, or Wendy would most definitely have magical powers, mine do not. The best I am hoping for is something cute to wear and something soft to hold on my butt to soothe the pain.

*to me anyway
**it’s been cold a little here and there, but I was wearing flip flops and a T-shirt two weekends ago.

Welcome back from the slump! I'm actually sort of welcoming a slump right now. The idea of sitting down and watching a few seasons of a tv show on DVD sounds GREAT.

And don't swear off acrylics. Just swear off yarn that you don't love. Know what I mean? There are some lovely yarns out there that aren't 100% natural fibers. You just make your knitting worth your time by knitting with yarn you love.

What a lineup you've put me in! I don't deserve to be sandwiched between The Harlot and Wendy! (I'm totally flattered.)
